The Irod Sniper Swim, designed by Toxic Baits, for Toxic Baits. At 7'6" and rated for 2-6 ounces with a moderate fast taper the Sniper Swim is designed to accurately present medium to larger size hard and soft baits in and around cover. It was also designed to be fished comfortably all day. The shorter length and overall balance of the rod allow for easy fishing all day. It also allows a swimbait set up to feel similar to conventional sized gear allow near effortless switching between set ups. Designed and tested on the California Delta to handle big fish, heavy cover and everything else that can be thrown at it. On the Delta there is a huge array of different cover types and can requires angler to be versatile switching presentations sometimes every hundred yards.
Big baits have came so far in recent years. There are baits to cover all type of fishing styles and presentions. Traditionally long rods made to make long casts with big baits have been the standard. Newer anglers have taken the big bait approach to combat style shallow water or heavy cover fishing which calls for different equipment to optimize an anglers chance of success. The Sniper has all the attributes needed to pick cover apart with hard or soft bait presentations and winch them out or away from the cover. Weedless soft baits are easily skipped and slid under over head obsticles with the shorter length and hardbaits up to 6ozs can be roll casted like a spinnerbait. We have also found this rod to excel at other presentations like A-Rigs, Punching and Frogs.
